Carotid stenting in asymptomatic patients: how to identify patients without symptoms and at high risk for neurologic events.
Abstract During the last 20 years, asymptomatic patients with high-grade carotid stenosis have been treated with carotid endarterectomy and more recently with carotid artery stenting in order to prevent stroke. Sex-based outcomes after coronary artery bypass grafting.
CONCLUSIONS: Sex was not an independent predictor of long-term MACE after CABG in this population-based cohort study. Men had however higher long-term all-cause mortality and women higher risk of myocardial infarction. Long-term outcomes should be accounted for when considering sex as a risk factor for CABG. P-119 * different measures to prevent atrial fibrillation in patients undergoing pulmonary resection for lung cancer: evidence from a comprehensive network meta-analysis of randomized and observational studies
Conclusions: Beta-blockers and flecainide are effective in reducing the incidence of postoperative AF in patients after pulmonary resections which is not the case with digoxin; data on remaining treatments are sparse and preclude drawing definite conclusions. Risk Factors of On-Pump Conversion during Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Graft.
Conclusion: Patients who undergo OPCABG and have CHF or a lower EF (<35%) are more likely to undergo on-pump conversion, while preoperative BB administration could help prevent conversions from OPCABG to on-pump CABG. PMID: 29124027 [PubMed]

Changes in Controllable Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Practice for White and Black Americans
CONCLUSIONS: CABG metrics of LIMA utilization and optimal medical therapy have improved over time and are similar despite patient race. Black Americans experience less frequent multi-arterial grafting and greater discharge beta-blocker prescription.
