Abstract 116: Relationship of Stroke Unit Status With Quality of Care and Outcome for Acute Stroke Patients: Results From China National Stroke Registry II Session Title: Poster Session I
Conclusions: Our study showed that processes of care of AIS were better in patients in hospitals with stroke units. However, patients in hospitals with stroke units didn’t performance differences in clinical outcomes after discharge.

Conclusions— AF is common clinical problem with significant morbidity and mortality. Get With The Guidelines-AFIB is a national hospital-based AF quality improvement program designed to increase adherence to evidence-based guidelines for AF.

Abstract 325: Paradoxical Relationship Between Bleeding Risk, Stroke Risk, and Time in Therapeutic Range for Atrial Fibrillation Patients on Warfarin: Data from ORBIT-AF Session Title: Poster Session III
Conclusions: In US clinical practices, warfarin patients have therapeutic INR levels about 2/3 of the time. Those at highest risk for stroke and bleeding paradoxically were the least likely to be in the therapeutic range.

Conclusions: Symptom type and characteristic, and cognitive behavioral responses of early treatment seekers differed from those of late treatment seekers. Experiencing a rapid heartbeat and unremitting symptoms may have helped participants form a cognitive appraisal and behavioral response conducive to early treatment-seeking. Experiencing intermittent symptoms less identifiable with a cardiac origin may have hindered development of cognitive appraisals and behavioral responses that promote early treatment- seeking. Abstract 172: Patients' Experiences from Symptom Onset to Initial Treatment for Atrial Fibrillation Session Title: Poster Session I
Conclusions: Providers’ played a critical role in reducing patients' emotional distress and helping them to develop an accurate understanding of AF symptoms and treatment. This study provides new insight into participant experiences from symptom onset through initial treatment of AF which may inform development of patient centered interventions to promote early effective AF self-management.

Abstract 237: Anticoagulant Use For the Prevention of Stroke in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: Findings From a Multi-Payer Analysis Poster Session II
Conclusions: Many AF patients in selected commercial, Medicare-eligible, and Medicaid populations, including those at high risk of stroke, do not receive appropriate thromboprophylaxis, as recommended by treatment guidelines. Increased use of the analyzer and similar software may support enhanced education efforts aimed at improving adherence to guidelines and quality of care.
