Correlation between clot density and recanalization success or stroke etiology in acute ischemic stroke patients.
Conclusions There was no relationship between clot density and revascularization success or stroke etiology in our study. More research is needed to determine if clot density can predict recanalization rates or indicate etiology. PMID: 28604188 [PubMed - in process]

Association of local anesthesia versus conscious sedation with functional outcome of acute ischemic stroke patients undergoing embolectomy.
CONCLUSION: Functional outcome of acute ischemic stroke patients undergoing embolectomy appears to be similar for patients receiving local anesthesia and conscious sedation. This similarity may be beneficial to a future study comparing general anesthesia to local anesthesia and conscious sedation. Use of intravenous cangrelor and stenting in acute ischemic stroke interventions: a new single center analysis and pooled-analysis of current studies

Intentional subintimal carotid stenting of internal carotid dissection in a patient with acute ischaemic stroke.
We report the case of a young woman with severe acute ischaemic stroke due to carotid artery dissection and intracranial embolism. After failure of endoluminal crossing of the dissected segment, intentional subintimal crossing with re-entry distally to the dissection was achieved and a stent was deployed. Then, middle cerebral artery thrombectomy was performed achieving good recanalisation. Successful recanalization using the Embolus Retriever with Interlinked Cage for acute stroke due to calcified cerebral emboli.
We describe a case of a mechanical thrombectomy with the Embolus Retriever with Interlinked Cage (ERIC) device in a patient with an acute ischemic stroke due to calcified cerebral emboli in the middle cerebral artery. The procedure was done after a failed recanalization attempt with manual aspiration thrombectomy. An 82-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with a sudden onset of right-sided weakness. A computed tomographic angiography showed left middle cerebral (M1 branch) calcified emboli. Conservative versus aggressive antiplatelet strategy for emergent carotid stenting during stroke thrombectomy
CONCLUSIONS: In this retrospective study, aggressive periprocedural antiplatelet strategy led to improved stent patency and clinical outcomes, without increased HT.
