Rapid Change in Shape of Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysm with Acute Perforating Infarction
Acute ischemic stroke is a rare complication resulting from an unruptured intracranial aneurysm (UIA). Ischemic stroke adjacent to the aneurysms is considered the risk of rupture of aneurysms. Stroke due to Left Atrial Appendage Thrombus after Pulmonary Vein Isolation despite Novel Oral Anticoagulant: A Case Report
We report on a patient with atrial fibrillation undergoing catheter ablation and cardioversion suffering from ischemic stroke despite being under oral anticoagulation. It turned out that the drug activity of the NOACs used was repeatedly insufficient in spite of regular intake and adequate dosing. Acute Ischemic Stroke in a Young Patient with Left Ventricular Thrombus Attributed to Doxorubicin Cardiomyopathy
We report a case of acute middle cerebral territory ischemic infarction caused by left ventricular thrombus (LVT) in a doxorubicin cardiomyopathy patient. A major adverse effect of doxorubicin is cardiotoxicity. Acute Ischemic Stroke in a Child Successfully Treated with Thrombolytic Therapy and Mechanical Thrombectomy
We present the case of a 4-year-old boy with complex congenital heart disease, admitted 30 min after sudden onset of an aphasia and right hemiplegia, scoring 14 on the Pediatric National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (PedNIHSS). Non-contrast brain computed tomography (CT) showed no evidence of acute ischemia. CT angiogram demonstrated a thrombus in the M1 segment of the left middle cerebral artery. Endovascular Thrombectomy in Acute-Onset Ischemic Stroke – beyond the Standard Time Windows: A Case Report and a Review of the Literature
We present a case of delayed thrombectomy in a 43-year-old man with acute dysarthria, left-sided weakness, and visual neglect. A Change of Heart: Yield of Cardiac Imaging in Acute Stroke Workup
This case report describes a patient who experienced a recurrent ischemic stroke within 24 h. Dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) angiography on admission showed 2 intracardiac thrombi, 1 in the left ventricle and 1 in the left atrial appendage. Early Thrombectomy of a Proximal Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion Leading to Complete Recovery with No Infarct
We report the case of a 55-year-old patient who developed sudden-onset right-sided hemiplegia and aphasia. Computed tomography angiography showed a thrombus in the M1 segment of the left middle cerebral artery. The thrombus was removed by mechanical thrombectomy 85 min after the onset of symptoms. Intra-Arterial Mechanical Thrombectomy: An Effective Treatment for Ischemic Stroke Caused by Endocarditis
We describe 3 consecutive cases of acute middle cerebral artery occlusion due to infective endocarditis, who were all successfully treated with intra-arterial mechanical thrombectomy using the Solitaire device. From this limited experience, mechanical thrombectomy could be used as an effective acute treatment for ischemic stroke in patients with infective endocarditis.
