Community Socioeconomic and Urban-Rural Disparities in Prehospital Notification of Stroke by Emergency Medical Services in North Carolina
CONCLUSIONS: Across a large, diverse population, EMS prenotification occurred in only one-third of suspected stroke patients. Furthermore, low SES and rural tracts were independently associated with a lower likelihood of prehospital notification. These findings suggest the need for education and quality improvement initiatives to increase EMS stroke prenotification, particularly in underserved communities.PMID:37657786 | PMC:PMC10491424 | DOI:10.14423/SMJ.0000000000001601

Education for nurses working in cardiovascular care: A European survey
Conclusion: There is variability in the content, teaching, learning and evaluation methods in post-registration cardiovascular nurse education programmes in Europe. Cardiovascular nurse education would be strengthened with a stronger focus upon content that reflects current health challenges faced in Europe. A broader view of cardiovascular disease to include stroke and peripheral vascular disease is recommended with greater emphasis on prevention, rehabilitation and the impact of health inequalities.

This month I can feel less guilty, but more pleasure than usual, as I've had help with a couple. We've all experienced that situation when someone discovers we're a healthcare professional and takes this as a cue to share something astoundingly intimate. I think that the trickiest occasion this happened to me was at a wedding, just before the speeches. The only upside was t...
