Subarachnoid Hemorrhage with and without Concomitant Sickle Cell Disease, a Comparison Using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (S4.004)
Conclusions: Based on these data, 2 out of every 1000 cases of SAH in the United States, will be related to SCD. SAH occurs at a much younger age in patients with SCD. Prognosis in patients with SAH related to SCD may be better than in non-SCD patients.Disclosure: Dr. Al Zahmi has nothing to disclose. Dr. Conners has nothing to disclose. Risk of Pregnancy-Associated Stroke Across Age Groups: Population-Based Data from New York State (S4.007)
Conclusions: Younger peripartum women, but not older women, are at increased risk of stroke compared to non-pregnant contemporaries. These results suggest that pregnancy itself does not increase the risk of stroke in older women, though they could reflect a tendency for older pregnant women to have above-average cardiovascular health. More research is needed to investigate why younger women may have increased risk of PAS.Disclosure: Dr. Miller has nothing to disclose. Dr. Gatollari has nothing to disclose. The Utility of Factor VIII Infusion in a Rare Case of SHAM Syndrome (P4.343)
Conclusions: Genetic testing confirmed the presence of SHAM syndrome with an 83 kb deletion involving both F8 and BRCC3 genes responsible for severe hemophilia and Moyamoya disease respectively. This case illustrates the first phenotypically and genetically confirmed adult case of SHAM syndrome with intracerebral hemorrhage and highlights the utility/safety of factor VIII infusion in this case.Disclosure: Dr. Roh has nothing to disclose. Non-Apoplectic Pituitary Macroadenoma Causing Stroke (P4.345)
Conclusions: Current literature does not report any cases of strokes caused by otherwise silent pituitary macroadenomas. This case demonstrates the importance of strict follow up, especially in pituitary macroadenomas encroaching on vasculature. Aggressive treatment will help prevent stroke-related morbidity and mortality.Disclosure: Dr. Datta has nothing to disclose. Dr. Modak has nothing to disclose. Dr. Stretz has nothing to disclose. Case Report - IV Thrombolysis with Subsequent SAH in Setting of Occult Spontaneous MCA Dissection (P4.346)
Conclusions: Spontaneous isolated middle cerebral artery dissection is a rare entity which most commonly presents as ischemic stroke and may complicate the administration of IV-rtPA. It should be considered in cases of thrombolysis and development of subsequent SAH.Disclosure: Dr. Saeed has nothing to disclose. Dr. Chaudhry has nothing to disclose. Facial Colliculus and Opalski Stroke Syndromes Caused by Vertebral Artery Dissection. Case Report (P4.349)
Conclusion: Brainstem stroke syndromes are challenging to localize before brain imaging. In this case two embolic strokes happened. The first in the right facial colliculus causing the right 6th and 7th cranial nerves palsy. The second happened in the left lateral medulla extending below the pyramidal decussation causing a classical left lateral medullary syndrome with ipsilateral hemiparesis, which constitute a left Opalski stroke syndrome.Disclosure: Dr. Alghamdi has nothing to disclose. Unusual Intersection: Elucidating the Role of Erdheim Chester Disease in Stroke (P4.366)
Conclusion:A unifying diagnosis of ECD was identified for this gentleman presenting with a stroke in the setting of critical ICA stenosis. Pathology from his CEA suggests that while ECD involves multisystem inflammation, it did not appear to play a direct role in his stroke.Disclosure: Dr. Sheikhi has nothing to disclose.

Intraarterial Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke: Analysis of Outcomes of Dissection vs. Non-Dissection Mechanism in 445 patients (P4.380)
Conclusions: Intraarterial treatment appears to be as safe and effective when used in patients with ischemic stroke due to CAD as in AIS patients with other causes. Following the major advances in IAT for AIS in the general population, IAT should be considered in patients with AIS due to a CAD.Disclosure: Dr. Jensen has nothing to disclose. Inconsistent Systolic Blood Pressure Management and Poor Documentation During Transfer to a Comprehensive Stroke Center Is Associated with Worsening Patient Outcomes (P5.216)
Conclusions: Failure of BP management and documentation during transfer of ICH patients to a CSC was associated with poor patient outcomes. Our study shows the importance of consistent documentation and strict adherence to the guidelines for ICH management as the stroke care shifts to comprehensive stroke centers. Outcomes of Bilateral Diagnostic Intracranial EEG in Non-Lateralized Treatment Resistant Epilepsy (P4.196)
Conclusions: At NYU, 60[percnt] of patients with TRE who underwent bICEEG progressed to EZ resection and 48[percnt] of these cases were seizure free. The risks of bICEEG monitoring are similar to our unilateral invasive monitoring. We conclude that bICEEG extends the benefit of epilepsy surgery to poorly lateralized TRE patients. Future analysis will determine the relative predictive value of seizure semiology, vEEG monitoring, MRI, MEG, and PET to progress to resection and Engel outcome in this series; as well as determine how depth electrodes augment subdural monitoring.Disclosure: Dr. Hill has nothing to disclose.
