First experience of international proctoring hands-on stroke course using Tegus telemedical system for overcoming education challenges during the war in Ukraine
Interv Neuroradiol. 2023 Aug 9:15910199231193912. doi: 10.1177/15910199231193912. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTInterventional neuroradiology (INR) has not yet received official certification as a surgical subspecialty in Ukraine. Consequently, there is uncertainty surrounding the availability of a neurosurgical internship and a structured INR training program to provide neuroendovascular procedures. In recent years, mechanical thrombectomy has become the standard of care for acute ischemic stroke caused by large vessel occlusion, as supported by evidence-based guidelines. This emphasizes the need for INR specialists, whic...

Neurological manifestations of COVID-19: a retrospective observational study based on 1060 patients with a narrative review
CONCLUSION: Our data are coherent with the published literature. Knowledge of these patterns will make clinicians consider COVID-19 infection when unexplained neurological findings are encountered.PMID:36451533 | DOI:10.1177/02841851221138557

Dual antiplatelet use in the management of COVID-19 associated acute ischemic stroke reocclusion
CONCLUSION: COVID-19 AIS may be associated with a hypercoagulable state which risks malignant reocclusion complicating MT. We found antithrombotic treatment periprocedural cangrelor with or without argatroban transitioned to oral aspirin with ticagrelor to be a viable method for management of these patients.PMID:35549746 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221097484

Neutrophil-Lymphocyte ratio is associated with poor clinical outcome after mechanical thrombectomy in stroke in patients with COVID-19
CONCLUSIONS: We show elevated NLR in LVO patients with COVID-19 portends significantly worse outcomes and increased mortality regardless of recanalization status. Severe neuro-inflammatory stress response related to COVID-19 may negate the potential benefits of successful thrombectomy.PMID:35404161 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221093896
