Long-Term Survival After Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery: A Swedish Nationwide Cohort Study.
CONCLUSIONS: Long-term survival was similar between off-pump and on-pump CABG in patients undergoing non-emergent primary isolated CABG in Sweden from 1998 to 2008. Impact of Ultrafiltration on Kidney Injury After Cardiac Surgery: The Michigan Experience.

Successful heart transplantation in a patient with Loeys-Dietz Syndrome.
Abstract Our patient is a 45-year-old woman with a history of Loeys-Dietz syndrome (LDS), vertebral artery dissection, stroke, prior atrial septal defect (ASD) repair, and spontaneous left main coronary artery dissection re-vascularized with coronary artery bypass grafting who progressed to end-stage heart failure. She was listed for cardiac transplantation and a suitable organ became available. She underwent heart transplantation over one year ago successfully. This is the first reported case of a successful heart transplantation in an individual with Loeys-Dietz syndrome. PMID: 30513314 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Long-Term Single Centre Outcomes of Patients with Chronic Renal Dialysis Undergoing Cardiac Surgery.
CONCLUSIONS: Cardiac surgery in DD-CRF patients is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Interestingly, overall mortality was mainly none cardiac-related, where elderly patients or those presented with CHF had the worst life expectancy. Aortic Annular Enlargement in the Elderly: Short and Long-Term Outcomes in the United States.
CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest annular enlargement during SAVR is associated with increased short-term risk in a Medicare population. Survival curves crossed after three years, which may portend a benefit in select patients. However, annular enlargement is still only done in the minority of patients who are at risk for PPM.
