REMEDY study seeks to put an end to rheumatic heart disease in our own lifetime through the application of preventive measures: For progress to be made in preventing and treating this serious condition, it is vital to prioritise improving the use of penicillin prophylaxis, improving the appropriate use of oral anticoagulation therapy with warfarin, and providing contraceptive and other reproductive health services to women affected by rheumatic heart disease. 3D printed heart to be showcased at world’s largest cardiovascular imaging congress

Created in September 2014 the ESC Council on Hypertension announces a new era for hypertension in the ESC. As Chairperson, Professor Antonio Coca will lead this new Council to increase its contribution to the main activities of the ESC. The condition of an athlete's heart has for the first been accurately monitored throughout the duration of a marathon race. The real-time monitoring was achieved by continuous electrocardiogram (ECG) surveillance and data transfer over the public mobile phone network to a telemedicine centre along the marathon route.
