FDA Updates Kaletra Labeling

June 27 is National HIV Testing Day
Plan to participate in National HIV Testing Day on June 27! The annual observance is a time to promote HIV testing—one of the best tools for HIV prevention. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care. Starting Antiretroviral Treatment Early Improves Outcomes for HIV-Infected Individuals
“A major international randomized clinical trial has found that HIV-infected individuals have a considerably lower risk of developing AIDS or other serious illnesses if they start taking antiretroviral drugs sooner, when their CD4+ T-cell count—a key measure of immune system health—is higher, instead of waiting until the CD4+ cell count drops to lower levels. The "Drugs That Fight HIV-1" brochure has been updated to include antiretroviral (ARV) drugs recently approved by FDA. The NIH publication features images of FDA-approved ARVs, grouped by drug class and identified by both generic and brand names. The brochure, available in both English and Spanish, offers health care professionals a visual aid to use when discussing HIV treatment with patients.
