Comparison of Sensitivity of Immunocomplex Capture Fluorescence Analysis for Detecting Donor-specific Anti-HLA Class II Antibodies in Kidney Transplant Patients
Immunocomplex capture fluorescence analysis (ICFA) detects donor-specific antihuman leukocyte antigen (HLA) antibodies (DSA), but the detection sensitivity of HLA class II antibodies using conventional ICFA is as low as 57%. The aim of the study was to improve the detection sensitivity of HLA class II antibodies by ICFA, and compare the ICFA results with the Luminex single-antigen bead test. Causes of Ineligibility for Recipients in Living Kidney Transplantation
Even if a living donor candidate exists, there are some cases that do not result in kidney transplantation (KTx) due to problems on the recipient side. The aim of this study was to clarify causes of ineligibility for KTx in these cases, so as to make RTx more applicable for patients. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Long-term Follow-up of Living Kidney Donors With Chronic Kidney Disease at 1 Year After Nephrectomy
Although renal function recovery of living kidney donors has been reported in a number of studies, many patients show poor recovery, and the long-term prognosis of these patients has not been well studied. In this investigation we explored the long-term prognosis of renal function in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) at 1 year after nephrectomy. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Preface
Asian Transplantation Week 2017 (ATW 2017) was held in Incheon, Korea from October 18 (Wednesday) to 22 (Sunday), 2017. It was launched by the Korean Transplantation Society (KST) in 2016 in the hope that it would contribute to the advancement of clinical techniques, especially among young Asian professionals, and the spread of a culture befitting the spirit of the Declaration of Istanbul in the field of transplantation in the Asian region. Pharmaceutical Care in Kidney Transplant Recipients: Behavioral and Physiologic Outcomes at 12 Month
A variety of complex drug regimens are offered to the kidney transplant recipients after transplantation. The study aimed to evaluate the behavioral and physiologic outcomes of pharmaceutical care in this population. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Thrombotic ringed polytetrafluoroethylene graft with infection after living donor liver transplantation
The safety of living donor in living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT) is always the first priority, meanwhile, the graft-to-recipient weight ratio (GRWR) and the anatomy of liver allograft must also not be compromised in order to warrant tranplatation success. When it comes the allograft of right lobe of liver without middle hepatic vein (R-M), the outflow and adequate drainage for the territory of middle hepatic vein (MHV) is one critical concern. Despite publications in some high-volume transplant centres on the positive results of using expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) graft to substitute those of autologous v...

Holistic long-term care over elderly kidney transplant recipients
Kidney transplantation is an optimal method of renal replacement therapy in patients with phase Vchronic kidney disease. Elderly patients (>60 years of age) with a kidney transplant create a significant and constantly growing pool of patients with this type of organ transplantation. In this group of patients, long-term care should be particularly stringent and vigilant. Apart from typical conditions associated with chronic kidney disease and possible post-transplant complications as well as side effects of immunosuppressive treatment, the patient also experiences changes and limitations associated with the progress of age a...

Carbohydrate antigen 19-9 level in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most prevalent monogenic renal disease and it is responsible for 10% of the patients on renal replacement therapy, including kidney transplantation. Recently, it was reported, that serum CA 19-9 level is significantly elevated in ADPKD patients without malignancy. Exclusion of malignancy, including tumour markers analysis is essential in pre-transplant evaluation, as well as kidney transplantation recipients assessment. On this account, serum CA 19-9 level in ADPKD patients, without malignancy was retrospectively analysed. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Correlation between percentage of immuncompetent CD4+ and CD4+CD25+ cells and compatibility in the HLA system and selected parameters assessing transplanted kidney function
Long-term kidney allograft survival is affected by many coexisting immunologic factors. Currently, only two basic immunologic parameters: HLA compatibility and panel reactive antibodies are routinely used in kidney transplantation management. At the same time there is a great need for immunologic biomarkers which will help understand kidney transplant immunology and improve clinical care over kidney recipients. T regulatory cells (Tregs)represent one of the major targets of this approach. The aim of this study was to investigate possibile simple associations between Tregs count in recipients ’ blood and other routinely a...

Psychological Aspects Of Living Kidney Donation In Poland – Experience Of One Centre
Living kidney transplantation is the optimal treatment of end-stage renal disease. The benefits for recipients are obvious. The psychological consequences for living kidney donors in Poland are not known. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

The role of transforming growth factor-beta in hypertensive living kidney donors
TGF- β is involved in the pathogenesis of hypertension and the development of hypertensive target organ damage. TGF-β may promote blood pressure elevation through several mechanisms. The identification of risk factors of hypertension in living kidney donors may provide proper postoperative management. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)
