The Effect of Donor Age on Graft Function and Pathological Findings in Living Donor Transplantation
The frequency of renal transplants from elderly living donors has increased because of a shortage of donors. However, the results of renal transplantation using aged kidney grafts have yet to be determined conclusively. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Efficacy of Ultra-Low dose Valganciclovir Chemoprophylaxis for Cytomegalovirus infection in ABO Incompatible Kidney Transplantation Recipients
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection can increase morbidity and mortality in kidney transplant(KTP) patients. Chemoprophylaxis with valganciclovir (VGCV) is recommended for ABO incompatible(ABOi) KTP as it significantly reducesCMV disease and infection. The recommended dose of VGCV for prevention of CMV in a KTP recipient is 900 mg once daily and the treatment duration is 6 months. However, it is expensive due to which sufficient amounts might not be administered. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Psychosocial factors affecting attitude toward organ donation in Santiago of Cuba
Awareness about organ donation among population is fundamental. So it is important to determine the factors that influence attitudes toward organ donation of the general population in order to carry out cost-effective campaigns. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Vacuum Sealing Drainage Therapy for Refractory Infectious Wound on 16 Renal Transplant Recipients
Refractory infectious wound on renal transplantation (RT) recipients significantly prolongs hospital stay, increases medical costs and threatens the survival of allograft. Vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) therapy is a new technique for managing wound based on the principle of application of controlled negative pressure. The aim of this study was to summarize the efficacy and safety of VSD therapy in the management of refractory infectious wound following RT. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Seven Japanese Herbals Prolonged Cardiac Allograft Survival
In this study we investigated the effect of 17 components of traditional Japanese herbal medicines on alloimmune responses in a murine model of cardiac allograft transplantation. Fully vascularized heterotopic hearts from C57BL/6 donors were transplanted into CBA mice by using microsurgical techniques. Artemisiae Capillaris herba [Inchinko] was given to CBA recipients with a dose of 1 g/kg/day from the day of transplantation until 7 days afterward. (Source: Transplantation Proceedings)

Living Kidney Donor with Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma at the Time of Donation: A Case Report
Living kidney donor guideline recommends that donor in whom malignancy is diagnosed should be excluded. Although preoperative screening of malignancy, we experienced a case of living donor with small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) at the time of donation. A 53-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for a kidney donation to her son. She had no past medical histories of malignancy. We screened the patient by medical examinations, but there was no obvious presence of malignancy. Although preoperative computed tomography (CT) showed a small lymph node swelling at left renal hilum, we diagnosed it as insignificant lymph node. ...

Donor Transmitted Bacterial Infection in Deceased Donor Liver Transplantation: Experience of Southern Taiwan Medical Center
Bacterial Infection is the most important source of mortality and morbidity in liver transplantation recipients. Donor transmitted bacterial infection is rare but one of the most important infection sources. This kind of infection is difficult to identified causing treatment dilemma. Effects of Peer Education on Attitudes Toward Organ Donation in Nursing Students
Nurses play an effective role in the identification of donors and in the families' decision-making processes related to organ donation. It is recommended that nursing students be offered specific education regarding organ donation and transplantation. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of peer education on attitudes toward organ donation and the rate of attaining a donor card in undergraduate nursing students.
