Bleeding and asymptomatic overdose in patients under Vitamin K antagonist therapy: Frequency and risk factors
ConclusionMost of the risk factors identified in our study seem to be related to patients lack of information and education. These results highlight the importance of creating a therapeutic patient education program. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Double right coronary artery detected on coronary computed tomography angiography: A case report
Publication date: March 2018Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal, Volume 70, Issue 1Author(s): Osman Mohamed Elfadil, Yahya Mohamed Al Wahshi, Ahmed Al ShamakhiAbstractDouble right coronary artery is a relatively rare coronary anomaly. In this case report we aim to increase awareness of the importance of recognizing such anomaly and a brief literature review of similar cases and possible high risk features. Computed Tomography is well recognized modality to detect coronary anomaly and in our case we demonstrated this as well. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Incidence and predictors of bleeding among Egyptian patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome: Using CRUSADE risk score
ConclusionRisk of bleeding can be evaluated using a simple risk score in both STEMI & NSTEMI patients, and across anti-coagulant strategies, providing important prognostic information. Variability in the rates of bleeding is likely based on differences in baseline characteristics, comorbidities, and invasive treatment strategies rather than specific anti-coagulation regimens. Patients at highest risk of bleeding are also at highest risk of ischaemia and thrombotic complications. Thus higher risk patients need a more careful treatment approach to maximize the efficacy of therapy and to reduce thrombotic risk while reducing ...

Prevalence of P wave dispersion and interatrial block in patients with systolic heart failure and their relationship with functional status, hospitalization and one year mortality
ConclusionPWD and IAB are prevalent in patients with systolic HF and they are significantly associated with low LVEF, paroxysmal AF, poor functional capacity, hospitalization and mortality rate. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Prevalence of early repolarization pattern and its association with sudden cardiac death and arrhythmia over one-year follow-up in an Egyptian cohort
ConclusionsIn outpatient-based Egyptian cohort, the prevalence of ERP was 6.7%, mostly the inferolateral pattern. Our ERP subjects had low-risk clinical and ECG criteria for malignant ERP. Further epidemiological studies are needed to explore the natural history of ERP. (Source: The Egyptian Heart Journal)

Death anxiety in patients with myocardial infarction or cancer
ConclusionIn this study patients with AMI had higher death anxiety than patients with cancer or healthy individuals. Generally death anxiety was related with education, employment and socioeconomic status. Prospective studies carefully searching for different variables in different medical groups would reveal and help us to understand the importance of death anxiety and its impact on courses of physical and mental disorders. Mitral leaflet separation index. An easy two dimensional echocardiography technique for assessment of mitral valve area before and after percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty
ConclusionThe MLS index it is a simple and effective method for assessment of the MVA, it has an excellent correlation with MVA with an excellent sensitivity and specificity for the prediction of effective MVA. The MLS index cannot evaluate outcome of PBMV because it is an anatomical parameter and not flow dependent thus does not correlate with grades of mitral regurgitation.
