Infiltrative subependymoma of the brainstem: an uncommon presentation
Abstract Iatrogenic lesion of the bile ducts is a relatively common occurrence during liver surgery, increasing morbidity and mortality rates. T2-weighted magnetic resonance cholangiography and gadoxetic acid-enhanced functional magnetic resonance cholangiography (fMRC) with administration of hepatobiliary-specific contrast medium (gadoxetic acid) are fundamental to the diagnostic imaging approach in patients with such lesions. Here, we present a review of the literature and suggest an imaging approach to biliary tract injury, focusing on clinical cases in which fMRC had an impact on the decision-making process for the man...

Twist and shout: magnetic resonance imaging findings in ovarian torsion
The objective of this essay was to review and illustrate the various magnetic resonance imaging findings in ovarian torsion. Nesse quesito, dest...

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer-aided diagnosis, and radiomics: advances in imaging towards to precision medicine
Abstract The discipline of radiology and diagnostic imaging has evolved greatly in recent years. We have observed an exponential increase in the number of exams performed, subspecialization of medical fields, and increases in accuracy of the various imaging methods, making it a challenge for the radiologist to “ know everything about all exams and regions ” . In addition, imaging exams are no longer only qualitative and diagnostic, providing now quantitative information on disease severity, as well as identifying biomarkers of prognosis and treatment response. In view of this, computer-aided diagnosis systems have been...

Upper-limb magnetic resonance lymphangiography: a useful new technique
Conclusion: Although PMP is a relatively rare entity, radiologists must be aware of its possible imaging findings, common locations, and possible patterns of recurrence. The origin of the primary tumor should also be investigated. Future studies are needed in order to determine which preoperative imaging findings predict surgical outcomes and to characterize the main findings of radiological recurrence.Resumo Objetivo: Determinar as caracter ísticas de imagem mais frequentes do pseudomixoma peritonial (PMP), bem como os subtipos histológicos dos tumores primários. Materiais e Métodos: Foram revisados 30 casos confirm...

Rates of success and failure of biopsies of hollow abdominal organs: descriptive analysis
Conclusion: Ultrasound-guided percutaneous biopsy is a safe procedure that demonstrates high efficacy in providing a sufficient sample for the diagnosis. The main reason to perform such a biopsy is suspicion of a new neoplasm, followed by suspicion of a metastatic lesion. The histopathological results were concordant with the suspicion in the majority of the cases evaluated here.
