Re: Letter to the Editor of Public Health in response to ‘The relationships among physical activity, sedentary behavior, obesity, and quitting behaviors within a cohort of smokers in California’
We would like to thank the authors for taking the time to write a Letter to the Editor about our manuscript. Their thoughtful response reiterated the limitations of cross-sectional data and the need for intervention and longitudinal research to better understand the relationships among the risk factors addressed in our publication. We share this viewpoint and attempt to convey in our manuscript that these results do not indicate a definitive relationship between the risk factors as found in our results. (Source: Public Health)

Re: The relationships among physical activity, sedentary behaviour, obesity and quitting behaviours within a cohort of smokers in California
I read the interesting article by Linke et  al.1 investigating the relationship among behavioral health risk factors, including insufficient physical activity (PA), sedentary behavior and obesity, and smoking cessation. Adjusted odds ratios (ORs) (95% confidence interval [CI]) of obesity and higher levels of PA for ≥24-h quit attempt were 1.450 (1.088–1.932) and 1.448 (1.111–1.887), respectively. In addition, OR (95% CI) of obesity for being quit for ≥30 days was 1.760 (1.095–2.828). Obesity was a preferable factor for smoking cessation, and I have some concerns about their study. Re: ‘Spectacles need and ownership among multiethnic students in rural China’
I wish to congratulate D.-J. Qian et  al. for their original research1 in which they presented a school-based cross-sectional study that described the prevalence and associated factors of spectacles need and ownership among multi-ethnic school students in rural China. They reported factors including demographic characteristics, specta cles usage, and myopia-related lifestyle exposures. As far as I understand from the methods section, questionnaires were filled out by children with the help of their parents. (Source: Public Health)

Acculturation, resilience, and the mental health of migrant youth: a cross-country comparative study

Prevalence and predictors of parental concern for children's weight from 2002 to 2012
Public health initiatives to increase parental awareness about children's obesity have become more prominent in the past decade. These initiatives may contribute to increased concern in parents for their children's weight, even if their children are at a healthy weight. The aim of the present study was to document trends in parental (N  = 365; 67.9% female) concern for their children's weight from 2002 to 2012 using surveys on health and eating behaviors.
