Identification of an immune-related key gene, PPARGC1A, in the development of Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma: in silico study and in vitro evaluation.
CONCLUSIONS: An immune-related gene, PPARGC1A, was filtered out as the key gene that might play critical roles in the initiation and progression of ATC. It might affect the prognosis by inhibiting immune cell infiltrations. Future experimental studies are needed to confirm the results. Lights and darks of neuroendocrine tumors of the appendix.
CONCLUSIONS: There are some persisting "grey areas" with regard to the characterization and the clinical management of neuroendocrine tumors of the appendix. An increasing awareness of the biological and clinical aspects of this disease and new, ideally prospective, focused studies might help and clarify some relevant issues that are not fully elucidated yet and could increase the solidity of the guidance for the management and the follow-up of the patients. Nutrition knowledge is associated with greater weight loss in obese patients following a multidisciplinary rehabilitaiton program.
CONCLUSIONS: Weight-management programs should include a strong component of nutrition education to alleviate knowledge inequalities and promote more effective weight loss and control. The MQ may be a useful tool to verify the nutritional education carried out during the rehabilitation of obese subjects. Pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists: an updated meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
CONCLUSIONS: No clear evidence of risk for pancreatitis was observed, whereas data on pancreatic cancer are too scarce to draw any conclusion. PMID: 32720500 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Endocrinologica)

Differential diagnosis between constitutional delay of growth and puberty, idiopathic growth hormone deficiency and congenital hypoogonadotropic hypogonadism: a clinical challenge for the pediatric endocrinologist.
CONCLUSIONS: Only a step-by-step diagnostic process based on appropriate endocrine and genetic markers together with LDSS treatment can help achieving the correct diagnosis and optimizing outcomes. PMID: 32720501 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Endocrinologica)

Impact of current anti-psoriatic systemic treatments on male and female fertility: what the endocrinologist needs to know.
Authors: Cacciapuoti S, Scala E, Megna M, Gallo L, Fontanella G, Ruggiero A, Savastano S, Fabbrocini G Abstract Fertility is a function of the body that often is overlooked as a site for the expression of the side effects of certain drugs. With the approval of new drugs with a totally innovative mechanism of action, the risk assessment on fertility both in male and female is more difficult. This is particularly true in psoriasis, an invalidating inflammatory skin disease. The estimated prevalence of psoriasis in adults ranged from 0.51% to 11.43%, and in children from 0% to 1.37%, with frequent diagnosis i...

The osteopontin expression and microvascular density in thyroid cancer, comparison of CT and ultrasound in diagnosis of thyroid cancer and correlations of CT features and thyroid cancer.
CONCLUSIONS: The levels of osteopontin and microvascular density were increased in thyroid cancer. CT examination may be of higher diagnostic value in diagnosis of thyroid cancer compared with ultrasound. Irregular shape, unclear boundary, calcified foci and uneven density/echo were independent risk factors for the CT imaging diagnosis of thyroid cancer. New-generation anti-obesity drugs: naltrexone/bupropion and liraglutide. An update for endocrinologists and nutritionists.
Authors: Barrea L, Pugliese G, Muscogiuri G, Laudisio D, Colao A, Savastano S Abstract The prevalence of obesity increases worldwide and has a significant economic impact on health care systems. A comprehensive program of lifestyle modification, including diet, exercise, and behavior therapy is considered the first option for achieving the significant weight loss. However, the intrinsic difficulties associated with maintenance of lifestyle changes contribute to the unsatisfactory long-term outcomes reported and weight regain in the obesity management. In this context, pharmacological approaches are useful ...
