CONCLUSIONS: Insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis are common in type 1 diabetes and have a significant association with ICVD, independently of diabetes duration, control and insulin doses.

Vitamin D3 deficiency is associated with more severe insulin resistance and metformin use in patients with type 2 diabetes.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that vit. D3 deficiency in patients with T2D was associated with more severe IR, poor glycemic control and obesity compared to normal status or vit. D3 insufficiency.

Is hemithyroidectomy sufficient in unilateral benign nodular goitre?
CONCLUSIONS: Due to low reoperation risk and acceptable permanent hypothyroidism rates, hemithyroidectomy is a viable option for benign goitre cases. The patients should be on follow-up for possible complications, especially hypothyroidism, for at least a year.

Subclinical male hypogonadism.
CONCLUSIONS: Although available evidence suggests that in aging populations SHG can be considered a particular condition associated with an increased CV risk, it is still unknown if treatment with T can improve any outcomes in these subjects. Hence, further interventional studies are advisable in order to better understand the characteristics of SHG and the possible advantages of an early TRT.

A favorable effect on nutritional status of 12-week tailored texture-modified sous-vide cooking meals in institutionalized elderly women with oropharyngeal dysphagia: an intervention study.

A new breakfast brioche containing bergamot fiber prevents insulin and glucose increase in healthy volunteers: a pilot study.
CONCLUSIONS: The association of wheat bran and bergamot fiber significantly influences glucose metabolism and may exert insulin-like effects on healthy volunteers. If confirmed, Bergabrioche would be a useful tool in preventing diabetes and controlling the glycometabolic status of Type 2 diabetic patients.

Endocrinological disorders and inflammatory skin diseases during COVID-19 outbreak. A review of the literature.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study pays attention on medium-long term effects of COVID-19 outbreak on inflammatory skin disorders, due to the lifestyle changes. In such context this review considers how a multidisciplinary approach, involving dermatologists, nutritionists and endocrinologists, may lead to a better management of dermatologic patients.

Oxidative stress as a key feature of autoimmune thyroiditis: an update.
CONCLUSIONS: Oxidant/antioxidant imbalance represent a key feature of thyroid autoimmunity. Oxidative stress parameters could be used as biochemical markers of chronic inflammation, to better predict the disease evolution along its natural history. Dietary habits and antioxidant supplements may provide protection from autoimmunity, opening new perspectives in the development of more tailored therapies.

Evaluation of vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinomas and nodular goiter.
CONCLUSIONS: This is the first study in the literature evaluating the role of VDR gene SNPs in nodular goiter. We can suggest that SNP distribution in the VDR gene is not associated with malignancy but may cause some alterations in thyrocyte morphology and functions.

Early and delayed puberty among Iranian children with obesity.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated no association between obesity and early puberty in girls; however, boys with obesity had delayed puberty. We also found higher birth weight is associated with earlier onset of obesity, putting light on the importance of preventive interventions.
