Dementia screening in elderly high-risk patients following heart failure decompensation may predict unfavorable long-term clinical outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS: In patients following decompensated HF, a history of stroke/TIA, PAD and impaired renal function independently influenced SDD. In this high-risk population, SDD was not related with patients' compliance but irrespective of the stroke/TIA history it was associated with the increased risk of HF rehospitalization. Non-invasive cardiovascular imaging for myocardial necrosis, viability, stunning and hibernation: evidence from an umbrella review encompassing 12 systematic reviews, 286 studies, and 201,680 patients.
CONCLUSIONS: The appraisal of myocardial necrosis and residual viability remains a cornerstone of the modern management of patients with CAD. Current imaging modalities, (echocardiography, PET, SPECT and CMR) are widely used. Further trials using contemporary methods are warranted to further clarify the impact of viability assessment on patient management, and the cumulative risk of morbidity and mortality. Latest generation stents: is it time to revive the bioresorbable scaffold?
Authors: Buono A, Ielasi A, Colombo A Abstract Bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS) have been introduced in the last decade in percutaneous coronary interventions. Despite several advantages being postulated, the negative results from the mid-term follow-up of the Absorb trials have tempered enthusiasm for these innovative devices. The Absorb scaffold was associated with higher rates of target-lesion failure and scaffold thrombosis when compared to current metallic stents, and for this reason was withdrawn from the market. This failure has to be considered multifactorial, involving technical and technological asp...

Can the expression of the metalloproteinase 9 gene and its inhibitor be considered as markers of heart failure?
CONCLUSIONS: Extracting from the group of genes related to coronary atherosclerosis and cardiac failure: MMP-9, TGF-β1 and TIMP-1 differentiating patients with heart failure on the basis of myocardial ischemia in varying degrees of severity from healthy people may indicate their significant contribution to disease development. Also increased expression of the metalloproteinase gene 9 (MMP-9) with a simultaneous decrease in the expression of its tissue inhibitor 1 (TIMP-1) in the studied group of patients with ischemic heart failure differing in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) makes them the markers of progressio...

Prevention of diffuse, minimal lymphatic "retention" with Robuvit ®: a concept, supplement registry study.
CONCLUSIONS: Preventive Robuvit® supplementation appears to be safe and effective in controlling DMLR in subjects without significant or apparent clinical conditions. This preventive, concept study should be extended to a larger population for more meaningful observations. PMID: 32586070 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Hangover and fatigue: effects of Robuvit ® supplementation. A pilot registry study.
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, Robuvit® supplementation appears to improve hangover and relieved symptoms faster. More studies are needed to confirm this association between acute alcohol consumption and a possible hepatic dysfunction. PMID: 32586071 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Fatigue due to mild heart failure: effects of Robuvit ® in a concept, pilot registry study.
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion in this pilot, supplement registry Robuvit® seems to help and improve patients with mild heart failure and should be considered for larger studies. PMID: 32586072 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Knowledge and attitudes towards hypertriglyceridaemia and associated residual risk amongst cardiologists in Turkey.
CONCLUSIONS: Although most of the participating cardiologists felt competent treating HTG, there was a knowledge gap in the treatment of atherogenic dyslipidaemia and management of residual risk. Evidence of the benefit of lowering triglycerides from cardiovascular outcome trials is eagerly awaited. There is also an unmet need of increasing patient compliance and managing polypharmacy. Pre-operative neurological dysfunctions: what is their meaning in patients presenting with acute type A aortic dissection?
CONCLUSIONS: Pre-operative neurological dysfunction have been long considered a contro-indication to surgery. Nevertheless, several authors show neurological and survival good results in patients with pre-operative neurological dysfunction. They also stress the importance of surgical timing finding in 5 to 10 hours the surgical time limit to improve neurological dysfunction. A pre-operative neurological dysfunction could be considered a strong advise to surgical intervention. It is time to change and consider prompt surgery not only for survival but also for cerebral protection. PMID: 32524808 [PubMed - as supplied...

The prevalence of masked hypertension in a group of young healthy soldiers.
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of MH among this sample of healthy military soldiers was 14.8%.
