Inconclusive Rule Out Diagnosis and Indication of Surgery for Hepatic Cyst
Historically surgical management of simple cyst is driven by patient symptoms, mainly pain. However, with increased reporting of 'rule out biliary cystadenoma', patients and surgeons are more likely to pursue surgical option. Aim of the study is to find role of reporting as an indication. Is Lymph Node 8a a Poor Prognostic Factor in Pancreatic Cancer?
Pancreatic cancer is an important cause of death worldwide, with only 12-18% achieving a 5-year survival after optimal management. There is still controversy around prognostic factors such as hepatic artery lymph node (HLN) metastasis and its impact on disease free survival time (DFS) and overall survival time (OS). Minimizing Complications with Minimally Invasive Distal Pancreatectomy for Pancreatic Malignancy
The advent of minimally invasive surgery has led to a paradigm shift in the approach to the treatment of malignancies in the body and tail of the pancreas. Minimally invasive distal pancreatectomies (MIDP) have increased compared to the traditional open distal pancreatectomy (ODP). While a growing number of MIDP are performed, there are limited studies comparing the perioperative outcomes and readmission data between ODP and MIDP on a national level. Preoperative Management of Patients Undergoing Pancreatoduodenectomy for Malignant Neoplasms: To Drain or Not to Drain?
The benefit of preoperative biliary drainage (PBD), either by endoscopic biliary drainage (EBD) or percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD), in patients undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy for malignant neoplasms is still under debate. We aimed to assess the impact of PBD in the postoperative outcomes of patients that underwent pancreatoduodenectomy without a preoperative diagnosis of cholangitis.
