Chronic inflammation predicts long ‐term mortality in patients with Raynaud's phenomenon
ConclusionIn Raynaud's phenomenon, laboratory markers that can be attributed to a chronic inflammatory state independently yield prognostic information in addition to the presence of abnormal nailfold capillaries and ANA. Amongst all prognostic markers, the haemoglobin concentration is most strongly related to patients’ mortality in Raynaud's phenomenon. (Source: Journal of Internal Medicine)

Comparison of bleeding risk scores in patients with atrial fibrillation: insights from the RE ‐LY trial
ConclusionsAmongst the current clinical bleeding risk scores, the ORBIT score demonstrated the best discrimination and calibration. All the scores demonstrated, to a variable extent, an interaction with bleeding risk associated with dabigatran or warfarin. (Source: Journal of Internal Medicine)

Clues for early detection of autoimmune Addison's disease – myths and realities
ConclusionThe most consistent biochemical finding of untreated AAD was low sodium independent of the degree of glucocorticoid deficiency. Half of the patients had elevated TSH levels. Only a minority presented with marked hyperkalaemia or other nonhormonal abnormalities. Thus, unexplained low sodium and/or elevated TSH should prompt consideration of an undiagnosed AAD, and on clinical suspicion bring about assay of cortisol and ACTH. Presence of 21‐hydroxylase autoantibodies confirms autoimmune aetiology. Anticipating additional abnormalities in routine blood tests may delay diagnosis. (Source: Journal of Internal Medicine)

Enhanced ventricular ‐arterial coupling during a 2‐year physical activity program in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
ConclusionThese results indicate that although differentially associated with physical capacity parameters, improved vascular stiffness, and improved diastolic dysfunction are interrelated, and that an optimization of the ventricular‐arterial coupling may contribute to the beneficial effects of physical activity in RA patients. This article is protected by copyright. Chylomicronemia risk factors ranked by importance for the individual and community in 108,711 women and men
ConclusionsObesity and type 2 diabetes were the most important modifiable chylomicronemia risk factors in women and men, both for the individual and community. This could influence chylomicronemia prevention and help design randomized trials aimed at reducing triglycerides. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
