A 3  months clinical evaluation comparing two professional bleaching systems of 25% and 40% hydrogen peroxide and extended treatment outcome using a power versus a manual toothbrush
ConclusionsAt Day 7, PZW showed statistically greater change in overall color and shade than UOB. The SDC maintained tooth shade significantly better than MTB. Both bleaching regimens were safe.Clinical SignificanceThe outcomes confirm the bleaching efficacy advantage of a lower H2O2 dose ‐LED accelerated professional tooth bleaching system, compared to a higher‐dose H2O2 approach. The safety assessments via clinical intraoral exam and daily logged use of subjects' desensitizing agents, and the incidence and severity of reported sensitivity, provide evidence that both professional products are safe for use. Finally, po...

Effect of selective infiltration etching on the bond strength between zirconia and resin luting agents
ConclusionsSIE significantly enhanced the resin bond strength to zirconia. However, cement selection was also an important factor, for both surface treatments tested.Clinical SignificanceUse of SIE method combined with MDP monomer containing resin cement can provide clinically acceptable bond strength between zirconia and resin cement. Effect of different dry ‐polishing regimens on the intrapulpal temperature assessed with pulpal blood microcirculation model
ConclusionsTemperature was the least affected by the diamond cup in both pressure modes, and it was also less affected by the spiral finishing wheel in the low ‐load mode than in the high‐load mode. Fine and super‐fine discs had the greatest effect on intrachamber temperatures.Clinical SignificanceThe present study suggests intrachamber temperature can rise among different dry ‐polishing regimes. Dental practitioners should pay attention to dry‐polishing regimens and pressures for reducing heat‐related dental problems. (Source: Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry)

A novel soft tissue thickness measuring method using cone beam computed tomography
ConclusionSoft tissue thickness values in maxilla may differ depending on the measurement method and location of the measurement. Ultrasonic device, transgingival probing, and CBCT measures may not necessarily correlate in all locations. The high agreement between CBCT measurements and transgingival probing may suggest the newly introduced method as a promising technique for soft tissue thickness evaluation.Clinical SignificanceThis study evaluated the relation between different soft tissue thickness measurement methods and demonstrated a novel method which can be used in any part of the mouth. The outcome also suggested t...

A comparison between modified and conventional surgical techniques for surgical lip repositioning in the management of the gummy smile
ConclusionThis study showed that the modified technique utilized in treating gummy smile has less relapse after surgery, shows excellent cosmesis and compared to the conventional technique, greater sustainability.Clinical significanceThe recent increase in demand for an esthetic smile has led to the development a modification of conventional lip repositioning for correcting gummy smile by myotomy of lip elevator muscles. This modified technique offers less relapse and greater stability post ‐operatively than the conventional technique. (Source: Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry)
