TC ‐325 versus the conventional combined technique for endoscopic treatment of peptic ulcers with high‐risk bleeding stigmata: A randomized pilot study
CONCLUSIONSOur pilot study showed that TC‐325 has a tendency towards a higher rebleeding rate than CCT, when treating actively bleeding ulcers. Larger trials are necessary for definitive results. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)

Single disease entity for both chromosomal instable subtype gastric adenocarcinoma and esophageal adenocarcinoma
Gastric cardiac carcinoma (GCC) was and is considered as a part of esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) and staged with the rules for EAC. This may change. Recent comprehensive integrated genomic investigations on gastric and esophageal carcinomas discovered similar chromosomal instability profiles in these two groups of carcinomas with a gradual increasing gradient from the lowest percentage in the distal gastric antrum to a high level in the proximal gastric cardia, and to the peak of almost 100% in EAC. Therefore, most GCCs and EAC share similar chromosomal instable features of gastric carcinoma and should be grouped as a si...

Clinical Outcomes of Patients with Resectable Pancreatic Acinar Cell Carcinoma
ConclusionsCompared with ductal adenocarcinoma, resectable pancreatic ACC has a favorable prognosis after surgery. Considering distant metastasis is the most common relapse pattern, further studies are necessary to define the role of adjuvant chemotherapy for improving survival outcomes. Adherence to infliximab therapy in inflammatory bowel disease patients in a real ‐life setting
CONCLUSIONSThe overall non‐adherence rate for infliximab use was 54.3%. Professional constraints and intentional non‐adherence were the leading causes of non‐adherence. Perineal disease and active CD were negatively related to adherence. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)

Combination of growth pattern and tumor regression identifies a high ‐risk group in neoadjuvant treated rectal cancer patients
CONCLUSIONSLoss of E‐cadherin protein expression in the pretreatment biopsy of rectal cancer is associated with fewer metastases and improved survival. Furthermore, the growth pattern in the post‐RCT resection specimen has a prognostic value for survival. A combination of growth pattern and tumor regression score (the RegPat score) showed the highest discriminatory power to identify high‐risk patients. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)

POEM for special patient cohorts: A review
Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) is a natural orifice, translumenal endoscopic surgical procedure that achieves endoscopic myotomy by conducting a submucosal tunnel as an operating space. It is conventionally performed in achalasia. Recently, several centers worldwide have reported the feasibility of this procedure not only in early achalasia but also in other particular patient cohorts. Possible indications for POEM include previously failed Heller myotomy, pneumatic balloon dilatation or POEM, sigmoid achalasia, pediatric patients, spastic esophagus disorders, Zenker’s diverticulum and gastroparesis. However, its appl...

Comparison of 10 days levofloxacin bismuth based quadruple therapy and levofloxacin based triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori therapy
ConclusionsWe found that addiction of bismuth subcitrate to levofloxacin‐based triple therapy was not more effective, but no more side effects were noted. These two eradication therapy were equally safe, and patients seems to have the same tolerant. Levofloxacin‐resistant rate may be a more important role when choosing second‐line therapy. Long ‐term risk of infection in patients with Crohn's disease on anti‐TNF treatment: A prospective single center cohort study in China
ConclusionsLong‐term use of infliximab in patients with Crohn's disease has a high risk of infectious complications. Failure of mucosal healing and concomitant systemic corticosteroids treatment are independent risk factors of infectious events during IFX maintenance therapy. Endoscopic evaluation of iron deficiency without anemia: does it have the same benefit as in patients with anemia?
ConclusionsPrevalence of gastrointestinal lesions in patients without anemia was similar to that of patients with anemia but malignancy was eight times less frequent. Systematic endoscopic evaluation in patients with ID is therefore questionable. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. (Source: Journal of Digestive Diseases)
