Queiroga, S. Riffard, T. Scase, G. Polton Since the identification of cyclo-oxygenase-2 as a potentially important therapeutic target in veterinary oncology, numerous studies on its expression have been conducted. Unfortunately, results have been heterogeneous and conclusions are difficult to draw. We tested the ability of a defined positive control to guarantee reproducibility of results among different laboratories. ...

Publication date: Available online 16 February 2016 Source:Journal of Comparative Pathology Author(s): G. Hood, R. Laufer-Amorim, C.E. Fonseca-Alves, C. Palmieri Ephrin A3 (EphA3), a member of the ephrin receptor tyrosine kinase family, is involved in a variety of functions in normal cells, especially during embryonic development, and alterations in its expression profile have been observed in several human cancers. However, there are no reports of the expression of EphA3 in normal, hyperplastic or neoplastic canine prostate tissue or in other types of canine tumours. Six normal, 15 hyperplastic and 21 neoplastic can...

Idiopathic Fibrosis of the Tunica Muscularis of the Large Intestine in Five Horses with Colic
Publication date: Available online 3 February 2016 Source:Journal of Comparative Pathology Author(s): T.S. Mair, C.E. Sherlock, D. Fews, R. Harley, G.R. Pearson Histological evidence of fibrosis affecting the outer layer of the large intestinal tunica muscularis was identified in five of 32 horses affected by colic. In three cases, foci of pale eosinophilia and vacuolation of myocytes were observed. These findings are suggestive of a degenerative and fibrotic abnormality in the outer layer of the tunica muscularis of the large intestinal smooth muscle of some horses with colic.
