Unusual branching pattern and termination of facial artery and its clinical implications for facial operations
We report herein multiple facial artery branch variations in the face. A large posterior (premasseteric) branch originated from the left facial artery and coursed upwards behind the main trunk of the facial artery. This artery presented with a straight course and was closely related to the anterior border of the masseter. The branch then terminated by supplying the adjacent connective tissue below the parotid duct. Treatment of type 1A endoleak using coil embolization: a case report
This article reports a case in which coil embolization was used and presents a literature review (PubMed, LILACS, and SciELO). Searches were run for articles published in the past 5 years using the descriptors “ endoleak 1A ” , “ coil embolization, ” and “ treatment ” . Prophylactic catheterization of uterine arteries with temporary blood flow occlusion in patients at high risk of pospartum hemorrhage: is it a safe technique?
Conclusions In this study, prophylactic uterine artery catheterization with temporary occlusion of blood flow proved to be a safe technique with low fetal mortality, no maternal mortality, and a low rate of blood transfusion and can be considered an important and effective therapeutic strategy for reduction of maternal morbi dity and mortality, especially in pregnant women with anomalous placental attachment. Alternative iliofemoral revascularization in extensive aortoiliac occlusive disease
We describe the case of a patient with extensive aortoiliac occlusive disease treated with an arterial bypass in the iliofemoral territory, using an alternative autologous substitute and the descending lateral femoral artery as recipient artery. Alternative bypasses and substitutes that are normally reserved for exceptional cases can and should be part of the vascular therapeutic arsenal and have a contribution to make in cases in which endovascular surgery does not yet enable us to achieve good results. Endovascular treatment of Nutcracker syndrome: case report
We report the case of a 59 year-old female treated by endovascular repair with a self-expanding nitinol stent. Clinical data, details of the procedure, and follow-up results are presented. Technical success was achieved and there patient reported no postoperative complications. Short-term, there was relief from symptoms and follow-up imaging tests showed improvement.
