Prevalence and associations of general practitioners ’ ordering of “non‐symptomatic” prostate‐specific antigen tests: A cross‐sectional analysis
ConclusionGP registrars frequently order “asymptomatic” PSA tests. Our findings suggest that non‐compliance with current guidelines for PSA screening may be relatively common and that targeted education is warranted. (Source: International Journal of Clinical Practice)

Computer vision syndrome and ergonomic practices among undergraduate university students
ConclusionOcular symptoms and neck pain were less likely if the device was held just below eye level. There is a high prevalence of Symptoms of CVS amongst university students which could be reduced, in particular neck pain and eye strain and burning, with improved ergonomic practices. “I only watch for the commercials”: Messages about weight, eating and race in Super Bowl advertisements
ConclusionsFindings are striking given the high prevalence of overweight/obesity in the USA, particularly among Black and Hispanic populations, and the comparatively low representation of actors with overweight/obesity in Super Bowl advertisements. Surprising weight findings may signal a change in how the media portray body‐size norms (away from exclusively thin), although representations remain disproportionate from actual body‐size distributions in the USA. The prescription of antiplatelet medication in a very elderly population: An observational study in 15  141 ambulatory subjects
ConclusionIn this study, which is very interested for its size and the advanced age of the subjects, long‐course AM was prescribed in one third of ambulatory elderly patients. Coronary heart disease, severe hypertension and diabetes were more frequent in AM subjects. However, the low percentage of declared strokes was surprising. We provide additional data to doctors following subjects with AM. (Source: International Journal of Clinical Practice)

Drones in medicine —The rise of the machines
This is a medical kitty hawk moment. Drones are pilotless aircrafts that were initially used exclusively by the military but are now also used for various scientific purposes, public safety, and in commercial industries. The healthcare industry in particular can benefit from their technical capabilities and ease of use. Common drone applications in medicine include the provision disaster assessments when other means of access are severely restricted; delivering aid packages, medicines, vaccines, blood and other medical supplies to remote areas; providing safe transport of disease test samples and test kits in areas with h...

The accuracy of an oscillometric ankle ‐brachial index in the diagnosis of lower limb peripheral arterial disease: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
Conclusions and relevanceThe oscillometric ABI showed an acceptable diagnostic accuracy and feasibility, potentially making it a useful tool for PAD diagnosis. We recommend considering oscillometric errors as PAD equivalents, and a “per subject” instead of a “per leg” approach, in order to improve sensitivity. Borderline oscillometric ABI values in diabetic population should raise concern of PAD. (Source: International Journal of Clinical Practice)

Persistence and adherence with mirabegron vs antimuscarinics in overactive bladder: Retrospective analysis of a UK General Practice prescription database
This study aimed to compare persistence and adherence with the beta‐3‐adrenoceptor agonist mirabegron (MIR) vs AMs over 12 months. Patients and MethodsThis retrospective cohort analysis included patients aged ≥18 years who were prescribed MIR, or any AM. A 12‐month look‐back was used to assess inclusion eligibility. The primary end‐point was persistence, defined as time to first discontinuation of index drug, during 1 year follow‐up. The secondary end‐point was adherence, estimated by medication possession ratio (MPR). ResultsInclusion criteria were met by 6189 patients. Those prescribed AMs were mostly ...
