Assessment of acute pulmonary embolism outcome in hospital through Tricuspid Annular Plane Systolic Excursion versus Pulmonary Embolism Severity Index score
Conclusion TAPSE and PESI can be used as a good prognostic tool in acute PE during hospital course and TAPSE has higher accuracy than PESI in mortality prediction. Acinetobacter baumannii in ICU patients: A prospective study highlighting their incidence, antibiotic sensitivity pattern and impact on ICU stay and mortality

The great simulator: A historical presentation involving miliary tuberculosis and Pott ’s disease in an immunocompetent young female patient aged 25
We report the case of an immunocompetent woman aged 25, suffering from inflammatory back pain associated with fever and weight loss in postpartum. Chest CT-scan showed a miliary and spine CT-scan revealed the presence of staged spondylodiscitis with epiduritis. Predictors of early diagnosis of obesity hypoventilation syndrome among patients with sleep disordered breathing
Conclusion The prevalence of OHS among patients with SDB diagnosed at Mansoura SDB unit was 15.91% and 16.67% among obese patients with SDB. The following cutoff points can be used as promising predictors for early diagnosis of OHS: Erect awake SpO2 <93%, Serum HCO3 >28mmol/L and AHI>46.4. Effect of diuretics on the plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level in patients with an acute exacerbation of COPD

Study of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in asthmatics
Conclusions: 1) There is a high risk of developing OSA in asthmatic patients. 2) There is a bidirectional relationship between OSA and asthma with increasing frequency of OSA with the increasing of asthma severity. 3) Treatment of OSA with CPAP causing improvement of asthma symptoms and control. Diagnostic dilemma in tuberculous pleural effusion
Conclusion It was concluded that ADA measurement in the pleural fluid is an appropriate, fast diagnostic tool for the diagnosis of tuberculous pleural effusion, with higher sensitivity (98%) and diagnostic accuracy (75%). QuantiFERON-TB Gold which is technically more complicated, expensive and has lower sensitivity (65%) and diagnostic accuracy (67.5%) than ADA.
