The effect of adding cisatracurium versus hyaluronidase to levobupivacaine and lidocaine mixture in single injection peribulbar block for cataract surgery
Conclusions The addition of cisatracurium 1mg or hyaluronidase 15IU/ml to levobupivacaine and lidocaine mixture for PBB hastened the onset of lid and globe akinesia without increase the incidence of adverse effects. This effect is more obvious with cisatracurium compared to hyaluronidase. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Perineural versus intravenous clonidine as an adjuvant to Bupivacaine in supraclavicular Brachial plexus block
Conclusion Addition of clonidine 2mcg/kg to 28ml of 0.5% bupivacaine in brachial plexus blocks results in a faster onset, increased duration of block and longer postoperative pain relief when compared to bupivacaine alone. These advantages are not observed when the same dose of clonidine is injected intravenously. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Anaesthesia and peri-interventional morbidity of rigid bronchoscopy: A retrospective analysis
Conclusion The choice of anaesthetic technique possibly affects the complication of patients undergoing rigid bronchoscopy. Volatile anaesthetics appeared to be driven by presumably shorter procedure, but was associated with higher systemic complication. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Dexamethasone versus neostigmine as an adjuvant to bupivacaine 0.25% for caudal analgesia in children undergoing open inguinal hernia repair
Conclusion Co-administration of dexamethasone (0.1mg/kg) or neostigmine (2μg/kg) with 0.25% bupivacaine for CB in pediatric patients undergoing unilateral open inguinal hernia repair prolonged postoperative analgesia duration and decreased postoperative analgesic utilization as compared to bupivacaine alone. Caudal bupivacaine-neostigmine provided more pronounced analgesic effect as compared to bupivacaine-dexamethasone. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Intrathecal nalbuphine – Will it gain wider acceptance? – A narrative review
Conclusion Nalbuphine is a very useful adjunct to intrathecal local anesthetics because of the good duration of analgesia, anti-pruritic,anti-shivering properties, lesser respiratory depression, nausea, and vomiting. The author hopes that this review article will be a forerunner for many more studies to come in the future, so that its acceptance will become widespread. (Source: Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia)

Post-spinal anesthesia hypotension during cesarean delivery, a review article
Publication date: Available online 31 March 2017 Source:Egyptian Journal of Anaesthesia Author(s): Ahmed Hasanin, Ali M. Mokhtar, Ahmed A. Badawy, Reham Fouad Maternal hypotension is a common complication after spinal anesthesia for cesarean delivery. Prevention and treatment of post-spinal hypotension (PSH) in cesarean delivery has been frequently investigated. Fluid loading is superior to no-fluid regimen; however, the incidence of PSH is still high with all fluid loading protocols; thus, the use of fluid loading as a sole method for prophylaxis might be not satisfactory for many anesthetists. Phenylephrine is the ...
