Counting the cold ones: A comparison of methods measuring total alcohol consumption of managed alcohol program participants
ConclusionsAt two sites, MAP participants reported consuming more than twice the amount of alcohol administered on the program. At most sites, there was significant under‐reporting of outside drinking. Addressing the problem of outside drinking and total daily consumption is critical for achieving program goals of both short and long‐term harm reduction. (Source: Drug and Alcohol Review)

Drug and alcohol treatment providers ’ views about the disease model of addiction and its impact on clinical practice: A systematic review
ConclusionThe review suggests treatment providers may endorse disease and other models while strategically deploying the DMA for presumed therapeutic benefits. Varying DMA support across workforces indicated service users may experience multiple and potentially contradictory explanations of addiction. The status of support for cannabis regulation in Uruguay 4 years after reform: Evidence from public opinion surveys
ConclusionsThis study shows a change in the public opinion toward legalisation of marijuana although most people still remain opposed to the law. However, the data do not provide indication of a significant change in its use. Results suggest that opposition to legalisation may be focused on the pharmacy retail provision. Self ‐reported injection practices among people who use drugs in French prisons: Public health implications (ANRS‐Coquelicot survey 2011–2013)
ConclusionsThe prevalences of injection practices and needle/syringe sharing in prisons are alarmingly high. Effective interventions to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases among people who use drugs in the prison setting are essential. The implementation of international recommendations on the principle of equivalence between prisons and the community is still very limited in most countries, and should be complemented with tailored interventions for the most vulnerable prison populations, especially Russian‐speaking detainees.
