Potential risk for fatal drug overdose perceived by people using opioid drugs
ConclusionsPeople who use opioid drugs continue to perceive taking opioids in combination with alcohol and benzodiazepines as low risk. Prevention efforts could be informed by greater exploration of barriers to understanding potential overdose risk and changing high‐risk behaviours, and accessible and relevant opioid‐related fatality data. OST must be able to attract and retain people who are dependent on opioid drugs. (Source: Drug and Alcohol Review)

Characteristics of Australian adolescent females in residential treatment who report using methamphetamines
ConclusionsHigh levels of trauma and mental health problems in this population support the notion that traumatic childhood experiences are strongly associated with problematic alcohol and other drug use, particularly, methamphetamine use, at a young age. Increased attention to decreasing family violence, abuse and neglect is required and in clinical practice, a trauma‐informed model of care is recommended. (Source: Drug and Alcohol Review)

Association between Australian adolescent alcohol use and alcohol use risk and protective factors in 2011 and 2014
ConclusionsThe strength of associations with alcohol use, and decrease in the prevalence of certain risk factors in 2014 compared to 2011, suggests such factors may be contributing to the decline in adolescent alcohol use. (Source: Drug and Alcohol Review)

Support for alcohol policies among drinkers in Mongolia, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, St Kitts and Nevis, Thailand and Vietnam: Data from the International Alcohol Control Study
ConclusionsWe found a trend in policy support, generally being highest in the low–middle‐income countries, followed by high–middle‐income countries and then high‐income countries. Support from drinkers for a range of alcohol policies is extensive across all countries and could be used as a catalyst for further policy action. (Source: Drug and Alcohol Review)

Structural factors associated with methamphetamine smoking among female sex workers in Tijuana, Mexico
ConclusionsOur findings point to the important dynamic between the residential environment and more severe methamphetamine use. FSWs may prioritise the purchase of methamphetamine over stable housing if they have the financial means. Given the high prevalence of smoking methamphetamine among FSWs in Tijuana, drug treatment options, especially for women living in the red light district, are needed.
