Arterial stiffness and endothelial inflammation in prediabetes and newly diagnosed diabetes patients.
Conclusion Prediabetes patients have increasing e-selectin levels through the diagnosis of T2DM. E-selectin is associated with serum glucose levels. Prediabetic and newly diagnosed diabetics have higher arterial stiffness measurements. Serum e-selectin may be a good marker of endothelial inflammation and dysfunction increasing in parallel with serum glucose levels, predicting future cardiovascular events.

Design of an allele-specific PCR assay to genotype the rs12255372 SNP in a pilot study of association between common TCF7L2 polymorphisms and type 2 diabetes in Venezuelans.
Conclusions We developed a novel allele-specific PCR method for easier and rapid detection of rs12255372 polymorphism without the use of expensive instrumentation and reagents. Our study in a relatively small sample of the Venezuelan population replicated the association of the rs7903146 SNP with T2DM. Further studies with larger sample size and more biochemical data should be conducted to explore the genetic basis of T2DM susceptibility in Venezuela.

Effects of laparoscopic gastric plication (LGP) in patients with type 2 diabetes, one year follow-up.
CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic Gastric Plication (LGP) resulted in significant and sustained weight loss with minimal physiologic changes in gastrointestinal tract and ameliorated blood glucose control of type 2 diabetes in morbid obese patients.

Iron supplementation associated with loss of phenotype in autosomal dominant hypophosphatemic rickets.
CONCLUSIONS: We report an association between iron supplementation and a complete loss of biochemical ADHR phenotype, allowing withdrawal of rickets medication. Experience from this case suggests that reduction and withdrawal of rickets medication should be attempted only once iron status has been optimized.

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, clinical study on the effect of Diabetinol(®) on glycemic control of subjects with impaired fasting glucose.
CONCLUSION: The current study suggests a role for Diabetinol(®) as an adjunctive therapy for glycemic maintenance and for decreasing the risk of diabetes-associated comorbidities in type 2 diabetic patients on conventional therapies.
