Diagnostic utility and pitfalls of intraoperative pulmonary imprint cytology based on final pathological diagnoses
ConclusionIC ‐based diagnoses of pulmonary lesions as malignant corresponded well with the final histopathological diagnoses, but IC‐based diagnoses of negative (i.e., without malignant cells) were not as reliable. Thus, pathologists should recognize the limitations of IC, especially for identifying malignan t lesions. Also, the possibility of latent bacterial infection in a granuloma with caseous necrosis indicates that an IC preparation deemed inadequate for diagnosis should not be ignored. This article is protected by copyright. Comparison of the Cervex ‐Brush alone to Cytobrush plus Cervex‐Brush for detection of cervical dysplasia in women with a transformation zone type 3
ConclusionsWhen compared to Cervex ‐Brush sampling alone, the addition of a Cytobrush improves endocervical sampling but does not improve cytological predictability of CIN2+ in women with a TZ3. These data suggest that women who will reliably attend for cytological follow‐up can be safely referred to primary care for a Cervex‐B rush alone. This article is protected by copyright. Noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary ‐like nuclear features: An interobserver study of key cytomorphological features from a large academic medical centre
ConclusionsThe current study supports the reproducibility of our previous findings. The high level of agreement amongst pathologists for these groups, and particularly the NIFTP group, supports the notion that when viewed in combination as a cytological profile, these cytomorphological features may assist the cytopathologist in raising the possibility of NIFTP preoperatively. This can potentially aid clinicians in deciding whether more conservative treatment may be appropriate. (Source: Cytopathology)

Clinicocytopathological spectrum, including uncommon forms, of nine cases of chordomas with immunohistochemical results, including brachyury immunostaining: A single institutional experience
ConclusionsChordomas can be primarily diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology in a typical clinicoradiological setting with a combination ofkey cytomorphological features. Pleomorphic cells and intranuclear inclusions are associated with a relatively aggressive subtype. An exact diagnosis has treatment implications and requires confirmation by brachyury immunostaining.
