Does sedation offer better outcomes than local anaesthesia for thyroid FNA in adult patients?
ConclusionsPerforming FNA of thyroid nodules in adult patients under sedation is not associated with a higher diagnostic yield or lower bleeding rate when compared to local anesthesia. Sedation should be judiciously used on only very anxious patients due to the increased overall cost. (Source: Cytopathology)

Nuclear protein in testis (NUT) carcinoma diagnosed using only FNA material in the absence of a histological sample
This is a recently described rare, genetically defined aggressive carcinoma arising predominantly in the mid line structures. Here, we refine the cytomorphological features of this rare tumour. Accurate diagnosis is important to inform prognosis and guide management as new and ongoing clinical trials may offer effective treatment in the future. (Source: Cytopathology)

Identification of metastatic papillary thyroid carcinoma in FNA specimens using thyroid peroxidase immunohistochemistry
ConclusionsTPO (mAb EP159) may be a useful addition to immunohistochemical panels for FNA specimens where metastatic PTC is a consideration, particularly in cases where metastatic lung carcinoma features in the differential diagnosis. (Source: Cytopathology)

Characteristic findings of cervical Papanicolaou tests from transgender patients on androgen therapy: Challenges in detecting dysplasia
ConclusionsThe evaluation of dysplasia can be challenging on Pap tests from transgender patients on androgen therapy. The cohort evaluated had higher rates of unsatisfactory and abnormal Pap tests. Pathologists should be familiar with the distinctive cytomorphological changes in the Pap tests from patients on androgen therapy to evaluate them appropriately. (Source: Cytopathology)

What's in a giant cell? A case of metastatic sarcomatoid pleomorphic carcinoma with osteoclast ‐like giant cells involving the thyroid
We present a case of sarcomatoid pleomorphic carcinoma with osteoclast‐like giant cells metastatic to the thyroid, followed by a discussion of the different pathologic entities to consider when encountering giant cells, a common component of many thyroid FNA specimens. (Source: Cytopathology)

The diagnostic value of cell blocks in Liquid ‐Based Cytology of bronchial aspiration and bronchial brushing materials
ConclusionThis study demonstrated that adding cell block to CB and LBC seemed to contribute the cytological diagnosis in BA materials significantly. Another advantage of CB is the opportunity of applying advanced methods such as immunocytochemical and molecular techniques. (Source: Cytopathology)

Cytology of cerebrospinal fluid involvement in systemic anaplastic large ‐cell lymphoma
CSF involvement in cases of systemic ALCL is rarely reported. However CSF study should be done in all cases of NHL when the patient is symptomatic, although the radiology may be normal. (Source: Cytopathology)
