Effect of infiltrating nasal packing with local anesthetics in postoperative pain and anxiety following sinonasal surgeries: a systemic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsOur study supports anesthetics infiltration of nasal packing as an effective method in managing pain in patients with nasal packing after sinonasal surgeries. However, the level of evidence is low. More high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to establish its effectiveness in reducing anxiety. We believe this review is of great clinical significance due to the vast patient population undergoing sinonasal surgeries. Postoperative local hemorrhage remains the greatest concern for ear nose and throat surgeons due to the rich vasculature of the nose and sinuses. Sinonasal packing provides structural sup...

Video head impulse test in vestibular migraine
ConclusionsPatients with vestibular migraine present normal vestibular function during intercrisis period when evaluated by video-head impulse test. Vertical canals, however, have higher gains in patients with vestibular migraine than in control subjects. Vestibular migraine patients feel dizziness more often while conducting video-head impulse test. O teste de i...

Nuocytes from mesenteric lymph node promote allergic responses in a mouse model
ConclusionThe findings demonstrate that nuocytes from the mesenteric lymph nodes of wild-type mice promote allergic responses in a mouse model.

Efficacy of pillar suture for post-tonsillectomy morbidity in children: a meta-analysis
ConclusionsPillar suture combined with tonsillectomy may reduce postoperative bleeding incidence despite increasing pillar edema in pediatric tonsillectomy. Postoperative pain-relief, palatal hematoma, palatal discomfort sensation, site infection, and velopharyngeal insufficiency were not significantly altered compared to tonsillectomy alone. However, further studies are needed to corroborate the results of this study.

Diagnosis and treatment of deep neck abscess due to congenital piriform sinus fistula in children
ConclusionCongenital piriform sinus fistula is an important cause of deep neck abscess in children. The presence of purulent gas-liquid equilibrium or air shadow in cervical-enhanced computed tomography or ultrasound suggests a high possibility of the presence of an internal fistula, and endoscopic low temperature ablation can be done at the same time as the diagnostic endoscopy.

Top-cited articles in cerebrospinal fluid leak (rhinorrhea and otorrhea) (1945–2018)
ConclusionDifferent surgical innovations in the field of cerebrospinal fluid leak sparked two different periods of intense scientific activity. Otorhinolaryngology and neurosurgery were the dominant specialties. The most frequent topic studied was endoscopic surgery; others included clinical and diagnostic features, neurinoma surgery, and cerebrospinal fluid leak related to temporal bone fractures. Nesse sentido, a bibliometria tor...

High PI3K/mTOR and low MAPK/JNK activity results in decreased apoptosis and autophagy in nasal polyposis
ConclusionDeficient apoptosis and autophagy through MAPK/JNK and PI3K/mTOR pathways may have a role in the pathogenesis of nasal polyposis.

The styloid process and the formation of sigmoid sinus diverticulum: is there a link?
ConclusionThe formation of sigmoid sinus diverticulum with venous pulsatile tinnitus may be related to compression of the contralateral internal jugular vein by the styloid process. However, accumulation of data in additional cases is required to verify this suggestion.
