Impact of same day vs day before pre ‐operative lymphoscintigraphy for sentinel lymph node biopsy for early breast cancer (local Australian experience)
ConclusionIn conclusion, the 2‐day LSG protocol had no impact on overall SLNB and LSG detection rates although slightly higher second tier nodes but this did not translate to any difference between the number of harvest nodes between the two groups. The 2‐day LSG allows for greater flexibility in theatre planning and more efficient use of theatre time. We recommend a dose of 40 Mbq of Tc99 m pertechnetate‐labelled colloid be given day prior to surgery within a 24‐hour timeframe. (Source: Australasian Radiology)

Contemporary salvage post prostatectomy radiotherapy: Early implementation improves biochemical control
ConclusionRising iPSA levels are associated with an increasing risk of biochemical failure after adjusting for known prognostic factors and early salvage post prostatectomy radiotherapy is recommended. (Source: Australasian Radiology)

Retrospective review of CT ‐guided intervertebral disc biopsies performed at a tertiary referral centre for suspected osteodiscitis
Conclusions from previous studies are influenced by sample size error and selection bias. Our study, conducted in a large number of patients over a 10‐year period, clarifies this issue so that best clinical practice is assured. MethodsWe performed a retrospective audit of the clinical, radiological and microbiological features of adult patients who underwent CT‐guided biopsies for suspected osteodiscitis at a tertiary institution. Patients who had received intravenous antibiotic therapy in the month prior to biopsy or oral antibiotics 2 weeks prior to biopsy were considered as having had antecedent treatment. ResultsW...

National survey on image ‐guided radiotherapy practice in New Zealand
ConclusionImage‐guided radiotherapy is widely used in NZ; however, there is a wide variation in its application between centres. Detailed tumour site‐specific, imaging modality‐specific national guidelines will allow standardization of IGRT practices. (Source: Australasian Radiology)

Dual ‐phase hybrid 18F‐Fluoride Positron emission tomography/MRI in ankylosing spondylitis: Investigating the link between MRI bone changes, regional hyperaemia and increased osteoblastic activity
ConclusionDual‐phase 18F‐Fluoride PET/MRI of the SIJ showed that inflammatory rather than chronic AS lesions are associated with regional hyperaemia and osteoblastic activity. (Source: Australasian Radiology)

Employment for radiation oncologists in Australia and New Zealand: Recent graduates survey of experiences and perspectives
ConclusionsThis initial survey of recent Radiation Oncology graduates in ANZ and Singapore has revealed the large majority are employed as consultants or fellows, although there is apprehension about a competitive job market. The survey should be repeated on a regular basis to monitor future trends. (Source: Australasian Radiology)

Effects of interruptions of external beam radiation therapy on outcomes in patients with prostate cancer
ConclusionUnintentional treatment breaks during dose escalated external beam radiation therapy for PCa did not cause a significant difference in outcomes, although duration of follow up limits the strength of this conclusion. (Source: Australasian Radiology)

Evaluation of kidney motion with and without a pneumatic abdominal compression belt: Considerations for stereotactic radiotherapy
ConclusionA pneumatic abdominal compression belt reduced kidney motion by >5.0 mm in seven of thirteen patients. The relative benefit is patient and location specific and should be assessed on an individual basis. (Source: Australasian Radiology)
