Conversion to EUS-guided internal gallbladder drainage from percutaneous cholecystostomy: A successful case using a novel plastic stent
Publication date: Available online 4 June 2019Source: Arab Journal of GastroenterologyAuthor(s): Yuki Hayashi, Kosuke Minaga, Tomoe Yoshikawa, Tatsuya Ishii, Hisakazu Matsumoto, Yoshito Uenoyama, Yukitaka YamashitaAbstractFor acute cholecystitis with high surgical risk, endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD) has shown high clinical and technical success rates. Dilation of the punctured fistula is a technically challenging aspect of EUS-GBD. Over-dilation makes stent insertion easier; however, it increases the risk of bile leakage. Currently, the endoscopic devices available for EUS-GBD are limited, whi...

Hydatid disease of the liver with portal vein invasion mimicking portal vein thrombosis
We present the ultrasonography (US) and computed tomography (CT) findings of a 77-year-old male with hydatid disease of the liver with portal vein invasion mimicking portal vein thrombosis. Colour Doppler US confirmed the lack of blood flow within the portal vein and stigmata of cavernomatosis. CT clearly demonstrated a communication between the multiloculated lesion and the portal vein and the multiple daughter vesicles obstructing the portal vein. The consideration of this complication will make it possible to distinguish this entity from portal vein thrombosis and, thus, the management of the patients with hydatid cyst ...
