Imperial College 5-year GEM
Imperial have now eradicated their 4-year programme and are adding an additional research year, just wanted to know how people feel about this. I'll be honest Imperial was my favourite option for 2016 entry, but now I doubt i'll be able to afford the expense nor have the will power to do an extra year that I dont want to do. TSR has some pretty good arguments on this, but wanted to hear from others. (Source: New Media Medicine)

I am looking for a study buddy for the sept sitting. I have a months revision done and have been committing a fair amount of time. I understand the general concepts fine however the math calculations I freeze up on. I suppose just looking for a study group or even just a person to make revision more effective and bearable... all this time alone shut away I have the gold standard book and vids, and three of the ACER books I would be more than happy to share any of my reso...

Am I rushing?
Hi guys just wanted some advice. I initially made up my mind to apply for 2016 entry. However a Dr friend of mine suggested that it might be worth applying this year also for 2015 entry. I'm tinkering with the idea but I'm unsure whether I have enough time to prepare for ukcat and personal statement? Any advice will be much appreciated! Cheers optomo (Source: New Media Medicine)

Multiple possibilities on Abstract Reasoning
Hi folks, I've been brushing up on Abstract Reasoning using Medify. The thing I find immensely frustrating is that there are usually lots of rules that can be made that fit the images given for each group, and the correct answers seem to require a somewhat arbitrary selection of the same rules used by the examiner. There have been a few times when I have identified a two-fold rule, made my judgements based on them, and then found that my answers were wrong because Medify assumed a different two-fold rule. So my question is, from your experience does this happen in the UKCAT too? A related issue is that when it's a thre...

Should I move on? Be Honest Please
Hi, currently a first year undergrad of Psychology and was unsure where to post. I figured by the time I could apply to medicine I would be 22 and therefore 'mature'? Correct me if I'm wrong. Anywho, I know there are tons of posts like this but do I stand a chance applying to medicine (GEM)? My GCSEs were quite bad 7 GCSEs, failed Chemistry and Physics (D, F) Alevels ABC (socio, english, media) I am determined to redo my GCSEs and do Alevels again and have already spoken to my local college about this. I would be doing them in the evenings while doing my degree and would have 2 A levels (Chem and Bio) by graduation i...

Where do I stand?
I've been doing some reading about how to get into medicine as a mature student and a lot of material doesn't really seem to reflect my situation. I did very well in Grammar school but got expelled prior to my GCSE's. Since then I've pretty much done nothing more than a few irrelevant A Level courses that I dropped out of. I'm now 28. I have basic C's at GCSE and nothing else... All the material I can find about mature entry into medicine talks about graduates, people with existing A Levels/GCSEs and other such half-way-there examples. I've always been obsessed with medicine but until a few years ago I just couldn't ...

Minimal background in Science
Hi everyone, I am intending to sit the GAMSAT in London 2014 (for Australian Medical schools). I have a BSc in Psychology and am currently finishing off my MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience (investigating systolic blood pressure fluctuations during tests of unconscious structural knowledge), and psychopharmacology, psychophyisiology and neuroanatomy/biology are my strong suits. However, I did lower-level Bio, Physics and Chemistry at A-levels (or the french equivalent in my case) so my understanding is very limited at the moment, particularly in Chemistry. Given that the exam is in March, and that I intend to hit the books...

Is there any chance?
Dear all, I sat for the UKCAT and was crashed badly with the overall average. It is below 600 (due to new VR format) and it made me realize that my efforts are still missing key ingredients to get into the medical school. Is there anyone who can suggest me that whether I can still apply with this score for ukcat uni.'s which I am considering? One being Warwick. I am now pouring all my best effort for GAMSAT. Replies will be highly appreciated from experienced people. Many thanks (Source: New Media Medicine)

Applicants 2015 Entry?
Hey guys, I'm new round these parts~ I was wondering who was thinking of applying for 2015 to Aberdeen, and if anyone is going to the open day on the 26th of August, and considering staying in the accommodation. I was also wondering if anyone had any information about the admissions policy, so I can consider if I really have a chance if I apply - I have 9A*/A at GCSE (2A*, 7As, 2Bs, extenuating circumstances - family illness) and I will after this summer have hopefully racked up a lot of volunteering, in addition to a lot of extracurriculars. Study Medicine Abroad - Eastern Europe

A lot of students in the UK, mostly those who have been unable to get into a place in the UK, are now looking outside the UK. Yes i was one of them. However, this trend seems to be on the increase! However, its no easy job finding a decent medical school, with a recognised course. There are often language barriers and confusing walls that often deter individuals. Looking to be put out of my misery!
Morning everyone! I am 32 years old, happily married with 2 kids (5 and 1 and a half), with a well paid job where I am fairly senior in my organisation.
