You ’re a Dermatologist Too?

Since I completed my residency training in 1999, I have enjoyed a challenging and rewarding career in academic family medicine. While my original plan was to go to medical school and become a surgeon, like many medical students in their clerkship year I found myself liking essentially everything and struggling to commit to a single subspecialty for fear that I would be narrowing my focus in patient care. I realized during my residency that family medicine gave me the opportunity to develop a broad expertise in all areas of medicine and to become skilled in many procedures.
