Deep Vein Thrombosis Screening with Risk Assessment Profile and Trauma Patients: A Quality Evaluation

Risk assessment profile (RAP) is a risk stratification method for trauma patients to determine when deep vein thrombosis (DVT) screening, by lower extremity doppler ultrasound (LEUS), is indicated. Early diagnosis of DVT leads to early treatment, reducing the risk of pulmonary embolism. This quality improvement project objective was to evaluate RAP of ≥8 for positive screening and to evaluate patient characteristics between those with or without DVT.
