Introduction

Approximately every quarter-century, orthodontics undergoes a paradigm shift due to advancements in technology, from Andrews pre-adjusted edgewise brackets in the 1970 ’s to Invisalign aligners and CAD/CAM technology in the late 1990’s and now to three-dimensional (3D) printing and in-office manufacturing happening today. Each leap forward paved the way for the next seismic advancement.
