Hi,
Some hospital trusts will have a specific programme or scheme to help prospective medics to get an insight into the job, some of these are excellent but other areas have little provision so it’s worth looking up you local hospital’s website or asking your careers teacher at school/sixth form as they should be aware. Another avenue to explore is that many hospitals will have someone designated as a ‘volunteer coordinator’ or similar type of role who might be able to help with voluntary work or work experience rather than a ‘prospective medics’ type programme. It’s worth asking at your GP surgery although many are reluctant to have someone who lives in their catchment area in for work experience due to patient confidentiality.
