Valeant buys Raleigh's Salix for $10 billion in cash

Raleigh-based Salix Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: SLXP) was officially acquired by Valeant Pharmaceuticals International (NYSE: VRX) for $158 per share, or about $10 billion in cash, the companies announced Sunday.
