Reverence for the Past Will Often Ensure the Success of the Future: Presidential Address from the Virtual New England Surgical Society Annual Meeting, 2020

As this is our first virtual New England Surgical Society meeting with obvious time constraints, we had to eliminate some of the traditional aspects of the meeting and shorten others. This was done to allow the scientific session presenters, often residents, fellows, and new members the full opportunity to make their presentations in front of the membership and guests. Thus, the presidential address which often is a 45-50-minute oration has been shortened by the Program Committee, and rightfully so, to a 10-15 minute Presidents Message.
