Percutaneous Cholecystoduodenal Anastomosis for Internal Gallbladder Drainage Using a Lumen-Apposing Metal Stent

Patients with cholecystitis who are not candidates for surgery often require long-term placement of a cholecystostomy tube. An endoscopic ultrasonography-guided cholecystoduodenal lumen-apposing stent has been used for internal drainage; this can be difficult to place when the gallbladder is contracted. This is a case of percutaneous cholecystoduodenostomy (PCD) using a lumen-apposing metal stent (PCD-LAMS) to establish internal drainage in a 75-year-old woman with a cholecystostomy tube placed 3 months earlier for symptomatic cholelithiasis and cystic duct occlusion.
