Byung-Cheul Shin This is the first cost-effectiveness analysis of Chuna manual therapy (CMT) plus usual Korean traditional medicine for traffic accident victims using a randomized controlled trial. A total of 132 participants were equally allocated to the intervention group receiving 6–11 sessions of CMT plus usual Korean traditional medicine care for three weeks or usual care including acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, moxibustion, and traditional physiotherapy at three hospitals. At 12 weeks, from a healthcare perspective, the intervention group had significantly higher costs (mean (SD), $778 (435) vs. $6...

This study investigates student-faculty interactions within a physiotherapy curriculum from the perspectives of students, faculty and physiotherapy managers at a South African university. The data, produced through multiple methods, derive from students, faculty and physiotherapy managers underpinned by critical-feminist perspectives. Thematic analysis of the data produced four themes. Two dominant threads emerging from the analysis as characterising student-faculty relationships are the deeply hierarchical relations of power characterised by a lack of caring and concern for students, and the exclusion of wider constructs ...

CONCLUSIONS: The StayBalanced Programme was appreciated and acceptable from the perspective of the participants, and in line with their values and preferences, one of three key components of EPB. The results of this study may support the uptake of the evidence-based StayBalanced Programme for fall prevention in clinical practice.PMID:34550046 | DOI:10.1080/09593985.2021.1972498

AbstractMethylation of N6-adenosine (m6A) is the most prevalent internal RNA modification and is especially common among the messenger RNAs. These m6A modifications regulate splicing, translocation, stability and translation of RNA through dynamic and reversible interactions with m6A-binding proteins, namely the writers, erasers and readers. RNA methyltransferases catalyze the m6A modifications, while demethylases reverse this methylation. Deregulation of the m6A modification process has been implicated in human carcinogenesis, including melanoma —which carries one of the highest mutant rates. In this review, we prov...

CONCLUSION: The HFP demonstrated that a PD community gym program is feasible and acceptable when physiotherapists and PD-trained instructors collaborate to provide individualized exercise programs.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONPeople with Parkinson's disease need support to maintain long-term adherence to regular exercise which can be achieved with supervised community-based gym programs.A community-based PD-specific exercise program can be safe and acceptable to people with PD when PD specialist physiotherapists are involved in planning participants' exercise programs and PD-trained gym instructors supervise the exercise...
