Plate versus sacroiliac screw fixation for treating posterior pelvic ring fracture: A Systematic review and meta-analysis

The choice between plate and sacroiliac (SI) screw fixation methods for the treatment of posterior pelvic ring disruption is a controversial subject. The SI screw fixation technique has become popular and has shown excellent results over the past few decades [1-3]. The advantages of percutaneous screw fixation include the fact that the patient can be in the supine position; a shorter operation time; the ease of combined anterior fixation; the requirement of only a small incision, which results in minimal blood loss; and low concerns of soft tissue injuries or deep infections [4,5].
