Accepted Medical Students.....I need some advice

by foville1859 (Posted Wed Nov 27, 2013 8:02 pm)Having a whole laundry list of a dozen extracurricular activities doesn't help much, it actually could have the opposite effect if it makes it seem like you are just doing those things as stunts to try to get into medical school. So narrow it down to the activities which are most important to you. And if you were asked in an interview "Why does that interest you / how did you become involved in that / do you think this is relevant to your future" then have a sincere answer to those questions. A few meaningful and relevant activities is better than many superficial ones. Also no amount of extra-curriculars is a substitute for the grades and MCAT, you need to be competitive in those minimum fundamentals before the other factors will be considered
