Free Range Chicken…

My mother’s doctor set her loose upon this little burg today – destined to do all the things she hasn't been able to do for months. A ripple could be felt reverberating throughout the space/time continuum this afternoon. “The doctor said I can go back to doing everything I was doing before the surgery,” she excitably told me over the phone. Mom’s buying me clothes in Wal-Mart at the moment. She said I was looking sort of shabby.  Fortunately, my mother has a good eye and a panache for men’s fashion. Helen’s lunch was kind of mediocre – another day of baked ham and you know how I feel about that. Astonishingly, we didn’t have peas and carrots. The turnip greens and cornbread were mighty fine, though, with lots of spicy hot vinegar sauce. Where Helen really shined today was with her banana pudding.
