CMS: Medicare Program: Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Model Three-Year Extension and Changes to Episode Definition and Pricing

Proposed rule from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services revising the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Payment Model (CJR), including the episode of care definition, the target price calculation, the reconciliation process, the beneficiary notice requirements, and the appeals process, among other things. Also extends the length of the model for certain participants through December 31, 2023 to allow time to test the proposed changes. Includes information regarding rural hospital participation rules and time frames in which they could participate in the CJR model. Comments on the proposed changes are due by April 24, 2020.
