Bologna guidelines for diagnosis and management of adhesive small bowel obstruction (ASBO): 2013 update of the evidence-based guidelines from the world society of emergency surgery ASBO working group

These updated Guidelines, authored by members of the World Society of Emergency Surgery's Working Group on Peritoneal Adhesions and ASBO Management, focus on new issues of diagnostic and treatment modalities of ASBO from the last three years' literature, including the increasing use of laparoscopy and minimally invasive strategies for ASBO with the evidence of its efficacy and its advantages. The Guidelines provide readers with hands-on practical and specifically-designed algorithms for diagnosis and treatment, and propose a new scoring method for adhesions quantification.
