UMass Memorial vows to invest $100M in Harrington Hospital through acquisition

UMass Memorial Health Care has committed to spending upward of $100 million for upgrades at Harrington Hospital if its acquisition plans are given a green light.   Southbridge-based Harrington HealthCare System, which owns Harrington Hospital and several outpatient centers, has been looking for a partner since 2018. Conclusions Similar to other childhood-onset conditions, adolescents and young adults with OI require education and mentorship, and clinicians in the adult healthcare system need to be prepared and supported to receive them. Collective efforts are needed to improve the self-management and transitional care needs for young adults with OI.

Conclusions The results of this study highlight the key role that expert nurses play in the care of patients with DFS. Expert nurses considered that amputation leaves the individual physically and psychologically vulnerable, especially upon discharge from hospital. It is therefore essential to provide these patients with comprehensive and multidisciplinary care that includes emotional support.

Conclusion Although emergency department naloxone distribution programs are feasible in the acute care setting, it was critical for clinical nurse specialists to enlist an interdisciplinary team and engage executive leadership to ensure program success. For others considering such a program, early consideration should be given to determining financial support and evaluating the compliance and regulatory aspects of dispensing medications from emergency settings.
